Built a story from scratch through a production process.Own myself a story.
A story about some sweet things in our city.
Let’s try to imagine a happiness world from the material in our real life.

Circling of Cities 's Dream
Artist: Lai YeukHei(Bonnie Lai)

Artist statement:
Cities and Dream is a miniature sculptural environment that explores how an individual imagines the world—its scale, boundaries, and possibilities—through craft.
Rather than depicting reality as it is, the work proposes a speculative ecology shaped by curiosity, play, and care. Landmarks, creatures, and landscapes from different cultures and geographies coexist within a compressed space, suggesting a world connected through imagination rather than divided by borders.
Environment is understood as relational rather than geographic: a shared emotional terrain where desire, memory, and fantasy intersect. By reducing global symbols into a handheld form, the work considers how power and distance shift when the world becomes small enough to hold, rearrange, and protect. The miniature scale invites gentleness—where coexistence replaces control and wonder becomes a way of relating.
The work is hand-built using wood, clay, cotton, wire, and resin. I work slowly and intuitively, allowing materials to respond and guide the form. Imperfections and visible traces of making are preserved, emphasizing material agency and fragility.
Through this process, craft becomes a method for imagining alternative futures shaped by care, play, and the desire to live together otherwise.
Pattern:
Mosaic tile of tenement buildings-HongKong
Totem of The Native Orca -Canada
Building sculpture:
Sky tower-new Zealand

Eiffel Tower-Paris
Once I dreamed that the huge whales was diving beside the window, sky transformed to be seafloor.
At that moment,I had a strongly feeling that the whales is freedom to live, but I am not.
Since I was a child, the view of the city has inspired me. I have been told that it’s nothing impossible in this beautiful views that was created by god . When I be used to live with the flourishing cities and spend the rest of my life to keep finding happiness 、achievement and property as much as I can, whales can live without national 、stable financial status and fame in this circle of world. Is that so funny in the circle of life?
Bless you guys have a happiness life by a piece of work.
